Irish Penal Rosary - Onyx
The Irish Penal Rosary is a single Decade Rosary used during penal times in Ireland when Roman Catholicism and it’s objects was forbidden.
In use the crucifix was hidden in the sleeve or palm while the ring was placed over the thumb as the first decade of the rosary was recited. The ring is then placed over the next finger as the next decade is spoken and so on u til all five decades are completed.
These can also be used as good luck charms in cars, or attached to hand bags or keys.

The name comes from the Latin word onyx which means ‘claw’. It is known a as the stone of self control. It is a useful stone in times of confusion.
It is usually found in Australia, Argentina, Brazil, Czech Republic, Madagascar and Germany.
